About Tintern

Mission Statement:

The mission of Tintern Church of Christ is to develop followers of Jesus together for the benefit of the world.

We believe that God is at work and is actively bringing light to the world.  We want to partner with God in the ministry He is already doing in our community, our nation, and our world.  We want to be friends to the lonely, a comfort to the hurting, and servants of the broken.  We want to reach out with the Gospel in word and deed to our community.

We believe that our mission is to develop disciples in the name of Jesus and we do this in a variety of ways.  We gather weekly in community to bring glory to God through worship and to build each other up.  We gather in small groups to develop relationships and encourage our faith.  We meet to study and reflect on Scripture and apply it to our lives.  We have a thriving children’s ministry to show young people the love and joy of Jesus.  We have an excellent teen program to begin the journey of discipleship.  We also have developed a young adult ministry so our young people can begin to lead, serve, and grow.  We have several missional engagements in our surrounding communities so that we can live out the Gospel and show the love of Jesus.

Through all these activities we are developing new disciples while at the same time growing and maturing as disciples ourselves.  We believe the Holy Spirit is guiding us to be a part of the kingdom of God to bring his love to this world.

OUR CORE VALUES

  • We believe that there is one true God, creator of heaven and earth, eternal, all-powerful, all-knowing, all-wise, holy, and loving (Genesis 1:1; Isaiah 6:3; I John 4:8; Jude 20-21).
  •  We believe the one God exists in three persons:  Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19; I Peter 1:2; John 1:1; Colossians 1:15-20).
  •  We believe the Bible is the inspired, authoritative word of God —revealing the heart and mind of God and giving us guidance in this life (II Timothy 3:16; Psalms 119:105; Hebrews 4:12-13).
  •  We believe every person has been created in the image of God and has great value to Him, but all sin and fall short of the glory of God, and this brings eternal death upon us (Genesis 1:27; Romans 3:23; 6:23).
  •  We believe that we are saved by grace—God’s free, undeserved, unearned mercy (Ephesians 2:8-10).
  •   We believe forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life are available to those who respond to God’s grace by trusting in Christ as Saviour and Lord, repenting of their sins, confessing their faith, and being baptized by immersion into Christ for the forgiveness of sins (Romans 6:23; John 3:16; Acts 16:31; Romans 10:9-10; Acts 2:38; 22:16; Galatians 3:26-27; Romans 6:1-11).
  •  We believe the Church is the body of Christ on earth, empowered by the Holy Spirit to evangelize the lost and edify the saved (Ephesians 1:21-22; 4:1-16; Acts 1:8; Matthew 28:18-20).
  •  We believe that after His resurrection the Lord Jesus Christ ascended to God the Father, but will return to earth one day to save His people and judge the world (Acts 1:1-11; Philippians 3:20-21; I Thessalonians 4:13-18; Acts 17:31).
  •  We believe that all of life is meant to be lived under the lordship of Jesus Christ Romans 10:9; Philippians 2:5-11).  We believe that Jesus lived the perfect human life and we strive to imitate him in our daily lives (Matthew 16:24; I Peter 2:21).  We are serious about developing holiness (righteousness) and love in our lives (II Corinthians 7:1; I John 3:2-3; 4:7-21).  We seek to serve the needs of others in Jesus’ name (Mark 10:42-45; II Corinthians 4:5).
